BREAKING: The leak was first reported at 1:01 p.m. at the corner of Nevin Avenue and Harbour Way.

RICHMOND, CA — A shelter-in-place order for a Richmond neighborhood caused by a gas leak Wednesday afternoon was lifted late Wednesday evening, according to a Richmond Fire Department chief. The gas leak near Harbour Way and Nevin Avenue was secured at 7:27 p.m. and the shelter-in-place order was lifted for nearby residents, Deputy Chief Emon Usher said.
The intersection remains closed, however, and PG&E crews are expected to return to finish repairs in this morning. The gas leak was first reported at about 1 p.m., after a 3- to 4-inch commercial gas line was ruptured.
Firefighters shut down a nearby post office and the Hacienda Grill at 1000 Nevin Ave. They also issued a shelter-in-place order for Kaiser Permanente Richmond Medical Center at 901 Nevin Ave. and a number of
residences in the area.
