Richmond Man Raped, Kidnapped Elderly Woman: DA

The Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office has charged a Richmond man with offenses related to rape, kidnapping, and sexual battery.

RICHMOND, CA — The Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office has charged a Richmond man with offenses related to rape, kidnapping, and sexual battery.

Eduardo Moreno, 30, was in custody Friday afternoon at the Martinez Detention Facility after Richmond police arrested him Oct. 9.

Moreno allegedly attacked an elderly female victim at a bus stop on San Pablo Avenue and Barrett Avenue around 5:50 a.m. Oct. 5.

At the time, Moreno was allegedly performing a lewd act upon himself at the bus stop when the victim saw him and asked him to stop.

Moreno allegedly grabbed the victim and forcibly dragged her into a nearby alley where he allegedly raped her and fled.

Police obtained evidence of the incident, which the DA's office said aided in Moreno's eventual arrest.

Moreno is scheduled to be arraigned at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Martinez on charges of forcible rape with an enhancement, kidnapping to commit another crime, and sexual battery by restraint.
