Saying Goodbye To El Cerrito Landmark
Judy Pope goes out in style as she closes the doors at D'jour Floral
Friends, longtime customers and a few curious shoppers stopped by D'jour Floral & Boutique to say so long to the store that has been a landmark in the neighborhood for the past eight years.
Owner Judy Pope is closing the doors for good Saturday. After a brief vacation, her first in more than a decade, Pope will start a new floral business — Kensington Gardens Floral — out of her home.
Pope was selling just about everything in the store Saturday: flowers, maps, books, cards, clothes and antiques. Shoppers looking for a deal on unique items were in heaven.
Pope didn't want to let her customers leave without signing her registry so she can remember them and keep in touch.
"It's always about personal service," Pope said.
