Weekend Police Blotter: Sex Offender, Strong-Arm Robbery

The El Cerrito Police Department selected and wrote the following items. 

November 1 


Warrant Arrest/Sex Offender Out of Compliance – Metro PCS, 11265 San Pablo Ave. 
At 2:31 p.m., an El Cerrito police officer contacted a 32-year-old homeless man in front of the Metro PCS store during a disturbance call. The man had a warrant for his arrest and was a convicted sex offender from Oakland who was out of compliance with his sex offender registry. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. 

Warrant Arrest/Convicted Felon in Possession of a Firearm - 10600 block of San Pablo Ave. 
At 4:34 p.m., an officer stopped a 50-year-old man from Richmond. The officer arrested the man for an outstanding warrant and for being a felon in possession of a firearm. Officers booked the man at the police department and then took him to county jail in Martinez. 

Possession of a Controlled Substance – San Pablo Ave. / Cutting Blvd. 
At 3:44 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver, a 35-year-old Hayward man, for possession of methamphetamine. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released pending lab results. 

Possession of a Controlled Substance – San Pablo Ave. / Wall Ave. 
At 4:46 a.m., an officer conducted a pedestrian enforcement stop and arrested a 39-year-old San Pablo woman for possession of methamphetamine. The woman was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released pending lab results. 

November 2 

Possession of a Controlled Substance – San Pablo Ave. at Cutting Blvd. 
At 9:50 a.m., an El Cerrito police officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested a 26-year-old San Pablo man for being possession of cocaine and driving on a suspended driver license. The male was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released. 

Possession of Methamphetamine for Sale/Possession of Stolen Property/Felon in Possession of Tear Gas – 10636 San Pablo Ave. 
At 12:30 p.m., an officer contacted a 39-year-old Richmond man and a 30-year-old Richmond woman in the old Safeway parking lot. The male had a can of pepper spray, small digital scale, packaging materials for drugs, and over 3 grams of suspected methamphetamines on his person. Both were in possession of drug paraphernalia and marijuana. The officer arrested both subjects and booked them at the El Cerrito Police Department. After booking, the officer released the woman with a citation. The officer took the man to county jail in Martinez. 

Petty Theft with Prior Convictions – 10794 San Pablo Ave. 
At 7:17 p.m., officers were dispatched to Marshall’s for a theft incident. The suspect was apprehended by a Richmond Police Officer outside the business. El Cerrito Officers arrived and arrested a 65-year-old Richmond man for theft. The man had prior convictions for petty theft, making the current incident more serious. The officers booked the man at the police department and took him to county jail in Martinez. 

Driving under the Influence – I-80 / Cleveland Ave. 
At 1:19 a.m., an officer saw a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed southbound on Eastshore Blvd. The vehicle ran through the red light and entered I-80 westbound. The officer caught up to the vehicle and conducted a traffic enforcement stop. The officer arrested the driver, a 23-year-old San Pablo man, for driving under the influence of alcohol. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released to a sober relative. 

Recovered Stolen Vehicle – 11555 San Pablo Ave. 
At 3:12 a.m., an officer located a black Chrysler Town and County parked just north of Dollar Tree that appeared abandoned. The vehicle had been rented on Oct. 1. Officers contacted the rental company who informed them that the vehicle was rented with a stolen credit card and that the vehicle was therefore stolen. Officers recovered the vehicle and arranged for storage until the rental company could claim the vehicle. 

November 3 

Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Paraphernalia – Carlson Blvd. / Santa Cruz Ave. 
At 7:32 p.m. an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver, a 32-year-old Richmond woman, for possession of methamphetamine and a glass-smoking pipe. The woman was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released pending lab results. 

Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Paraphernalia – Carlson Blvd. / Butte St. 
At 9:34 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver, a 37-year-old Berkeley man, for possession of methamphetamine and a glass-smoking pipe. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released pending lab results. 

Strong-arm Robbery – 280 El Cerrito Plaza 
At 9:58 p.m., the suspect ran up to the victim at an ATM and demanded money. The victim ran from the suspect and fell in the process. The suspect stood over the victim and demanded money again. The victim produced cash and handed it to the suspect. The suspect is described as a black male adult in his 20s, 5’5”, medium build, short hair, wearing a gray sweater with a collar, carrying a backpack.
