A bicyclist riding in Elk Grove was hit by a truck Sunday night and died later in a local hospital.
Police say the 25-year-old male bicyclist was riding outside the bike lane on southbound Franklin High Road, near Vilamoura Way, around 11 p.m.
The bicyclist was hit by a Chevrolet pickup truck and the trailer it was pulling; he was taken to a local hospital and died around 1:30 a.m., police said in a press release.
The bicyclist's identity has not yet been released.
Police spoke with the driver of the truck at the scene of the crash, but are asking anyone else with information to call (916) 478-8148.
