Apparent Suicide at Laguna Blvd, I-5 Overpass

A man jumped off the Laguna Boulevard overpass onto I-5 this afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol. He died around 2:05 p.m.

The truck driver from Washington was driving south on I-5 and parked his big rig at the Laguna Boulevard overpass, according to CHP spokesman Michael Bradley. He then jumped from the Laguna Boulevard overpass onto I-5.

“No vehicles hit him,” Bradley said. “He died at the scene.”

The death is an apparent suicide, Bradley said. It’s not yet known if drugs or alcohol were involved.

The CHP cleared the scene until the coroner showed up and took the body. The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department will handle the case moving forward.
