Chase of Stolen Car Called Off Because of Danger to Highway 99 Drivers

Elk Grove Police were in pursuit of a stolen Honda Civic Monday afternoon, but had to let it go because of a danger to other drivers.

The car was traveling north on Highway 99 around 12:30 p.m., and was driving erratically trying to escape, spokesman Officer Chris Trim said.

That in turn was "creating a hazardous situation to uninvolved motorists," Trim said in an email.

The car was last seen passing Florin Road, and is described as a green Honda Civic with the license plate 4AYE580.

Elk Grove Police notified CHP of the situation as they broke off the chase, Trim said.
