City Finishes East Stockton Blvd. Soundwall

A half-mile soundwall is now complete along East Stockton Boulevard in Elk Grove, hiding a long-time city eyesore. 

The 1,800-foot wall blocks freeway noise and covers an "unsightly fence," according to the City of Elk Grove. 

A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held Tuesday, Sept. 24 to celebrate the completed construction.

Construction is finished, and City officials will cut the ribbon on the long-awaited East Stockton Blvd. Soundwall Project on Tuesday, Sept. 24. 

A half-mile soundwall just north of Elk Grove Regional Park now covers deteriorated metal fencing along E. Stockton Blvd. that had been a major eyesore in Elk Grove for decades. The new wall will provide peace to homeowners, a boost to economic development and improvements to safety.  While effectively blocking freeway noise, the new 1,800 foot soundwall covers an unsightly, dilapidated fence that sent the wrong message to residents, businesses and visitors in Elk Grove. 

A ribbon cutting on Tuesday, Sept. 24 at 10 a.m. will mark the completed soundwall project and a successful partnership between the City of Elk Grove, residents and local businesses.

A ceremonial ribbon cutting and ½ mile walk along the soundwall will follow opening remarks.  Refreshments will be served.  Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable athletic shoes.
