Daylight Saving Time Begins Sunday

Don't forget to set your clocks forward one hour Saturday night.

Daylight Saving Time has always felt like a mixed blessing. Evening walks when it's still light enough to watch the sun turn neighboring fields a deep gold: Yes!! Starting work in the morning while it's still dark outside: not so much.

But while DST has its fans and its haters, the important thing is to remember it. Don't be like me last year, waking up to the phone ringing because I'm late for my appointment at 8:00, the hour formerly known as 7:00.

Set your clocks forward one hour before you go to bed tonight. (The change officially occurs at 2:00 a.m.) Oh, and the Cosumnes Fire Department would also like to remind you to change the batteries on your smoke detectors.

And dust off those porch swings and patio furniture, because here's the best thing about Daylight Saving Time: It means spring is just around the corner.
