Some Elk Grove kids got to envision themselves as tractor-operators, garbage-truck drivers and other city workers this week–but they weren't playing with scale models or toys.
The city displayed some of its heavy machinery during the second-annual "Big Truck Day" Tuesday, inviting kids to explore trucks, tractors and other vehicles parked outside city hall.
The event marked Public Works Week, and was intended to teach "about the equipment and skills required to maintain a city," the city said.
