Elk Grove Man Trades Banking Job For Pumpkin Carving

ELK GROVE, CA -- An Elk Grove man is making a living by carving pumpkins.

Alex Wer told KCRA that he found the new career by "accident."

Wer said it started when his wife asked him to carve pumpkins for her company. Eventually, he received more than 30 orders for specially designed pumpkins, he told KCRA.

Wer, who is now known as the Pumpkin Geek, charges about $200 a pumpkin. Each pumpkin takes about four to five hours, he told the news station.
