Elk Grove Teacher Arrested On Sex Charges

ELK GROVE, CA — The Sacramento Sheriff's Office has arrested Sheldon High School teacher John Richard Young for oral copulation with a person under 18 years of age. Young, 53, is being held in custody in lieu of $25,000 bail, and is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday in Sacramento Superior Court, according to a press release from The Sheriff's Office.

The department was alerted to allegations of inappropriate sexual conduct between Young and a 17 year old female victim on March 16. The allegations were that these incidents occurred over the past year. The Elk Grove Unified School District immediately placed Young on administrative leave after being notified of the allegations.

The investigation was conducted by the Sheriff’s Department Sexual Assault and Elder Abuse Bureau. The Sacramento Police Department arrested Young at his residence on Tuesday. Young is being held in custody in-lieu of $25,000 bail, and is scheduled to be arraigned in Sacramento Superior Court on May 4, 2017.
