E-Tran Bus Collides With Car, Ends Up in Field

The morning traffic accident sent three children to the hospital with what seemed to be minor injuries.

An e-tran bus full of students collided with a car on Franklin Blvd Tuesday morning, sending the bus into a nearby field and causing the temporary shutdown of a portion of the street.

Police were investigating the cause of the accident, which took place around 7 a.m. at the intersection of Franklin and Elk Grove Blvd. Three children traveling on the bus were taken to a local hospital, one with a broken nose and the others complaining of chest and back pain, said Elk Grove Police Department spokesperson Officer Chris Trim.

The bus was traveling south on Franklin and had a green light when it crashed into a gray Kia, which was making a right turn onto Franklin from the west, Trim said.

Passengers in the Kia said they were not hurt.

"We made a turn and all of a sudden, the bus was there. I just saw a green flash," said Kenneth Huynh, 16, a passenger in the car.
