Family Plans Memorial Service for Jogger Hit By Truck
Community members will gather April 16 to remember Teresa Hess, 53.
As friends mourn the passing of 53-year-old Teresa Hess, the fitness enthusiast and mother of two who was hit by an SUV while jogging on Laguna Blvd earlier this week, her family is planning a church service in her memory.
The service will take place Saturday, April 16 at 3:00 p.m. at . It is open to the public. Anyone wishing to say a few words about Hess's life can contact Pastor Randal Broadhurst at 916-804-7980.
Broadhurstβwho knew Hess from Elk Grove's Police Activities League, where she was a volunteerβsaid that besides being a professional massage therapist, Hess offered informal coaching to others on improving their nutrition and coping with drug and alcohol abuse. She was working to establish a shelter for homeless girls in the Elk Grove area, he said.

"The CalFit gym on Bond Road was her home away from home; she was there every morning," he said. "She was willing to strike up a conversation with anyone, to be a friend to someone who needed a friend."
