Highway 160 In North Sacramento Undergoing Major Facelift, Delays Expected
Breaking: Caltrans says delays are already underway; work will be done at night.

SACRAMENTO, CA — Nighttime construction on Highway 160 in North Sacramento will slow traffic as early as this week, according to a release from Caltrans. Construction crews will be grinding concrete and replacing roadway slabs on the stretch of highway between Richards Boulevard and Arden Way. Caltrans says nearby residents may experience "loud construction-type noises that include saw cutting, jack hammering and commercial vehicle beeping noises" during construction this spring and summer. Drivers should seek alternate routes and expect delays due to alternating lane restrictions and ramp closures.

To begin, the southbound on-ramp to Northgate Boulevard will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. daily until Saturday morning; The northbound off-ramp to Northgate is scheduled to be closed from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. daily through Saturday morning as well.
During the construction project, the typically daily work schedule will be from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Friday, though some weekend work may be needed. Advanced signage will be set up for detours and posted work zone speeds will be enforced by the California Highway Patrol.
