Merryhill Preschoolers Celebrate Earth Day with Butterfly Release

Students celebrate Earth Day and protecting the environment by releasing butterflies into their schoolyard

On May 4, students at Merryhill Preschool on Harbour Point Drive in Elk Grove explored a bug’s life in celebration of Earth Day as they released butterflies throughout the schoolyard and back into the environment on plants, flowers and trees.

Leading up to Earth Day, students observed caterpillars, their cocoon development and transformation into butterflies. Merryhill Preschool teaches the importance of community and exploring nature at an early age.
