Meters to Go On at Sheldon Road Entrances to Highway 99
The Department of Transportation says the ramp meters, which will be turned on during morning commute hours, are needed to ease congestion.
Morning commuters will soon be seeing red and green metering lights at the onramps to northbound Highway 99 at Sheldon Road.
The Department of Transportation plans to activate the meters beginning August 1, according to a city press release. They'll operate between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m.
DOT says the meters are necessary to ease congestion and allow for safe merging, and that the California Highway Patrol will be on the lookout for violators.
