New Drop-Off Locations for Sister City Clothing Drive
Flooding and mudslides have devastated Concepción de Ataco, El Salvador.
The City of Elk Grove today announced two additional locations for its clothing drive to help victims of mudslides and flooding in Elk Grove's Salvadoran sister city, Concepción de Ataco.
Besides City Hall, residents can also bring warm clothing, shoes and blankets to on Laguna Blvd and on Kent St. The clothing drive runs through Nov. 10.
Recent heavy rains have devastated the mountain town of Ataco, along with much of El Salvador. The city's mayor estimates 2,000 residents have lost their homes.

"Seeing the devastation in our sister city, I felt it important for us all to draw together to help," said Elk Grove Mayor Steven Detrick, who hopes to visit Ataco in November.
