Students at Merryhill Preschool in Stockton Release 5,000 Ladybugs

Students celebrate Earth Day and protecting the environment by releasing more than 5,000 beneficial bugs into their schoolyard

Students at Merryhill Preschool in Stockton recently bugged out in celebration of Earth Day as they released more than 5,000 ladybugs throughout the schoolyard and back into the environment on plants, flowers and trees. Students additionally planted flowers in recycled containers their schoolyard to help the local population of bees and other pollinators.

Leading up to Earth Day, students learned that ladybugs serve as a natural pesticide by feeding on insects that could otherwise harm the health of gardens, trees and shrubs. Merryhill School teaches the importance of community and exploring nature at an early age.
