City launches emergency preparedness website. With recent news of bizarre storms wreaking havoc around the country, some of you may have disaster on the brain. The new site advises residents on how to prepare for and handle crises like floods, other extreme weather events and chemical spills.
Locals banks hold monthlong 'baby drive' to benefit Elk Grove Food Bank Services. Drop off baby supplies like diapers and formula at your nearest bank branch anytime in June and they'll be donated to needy families. Participating banks include El Dorado Savings Bank, Elk Grove Commerce Bank, River City Bank, Mechanics Bank and U.S. Bank.

Sarah Palin defends American history flub. Palin told a Fox News host Sunday that she knows her history and did not mess up when she said earlier this week that Paul Revere made his famous ride to "warn the British." The former Alaska governor spent last week on a speaking tour of the East Coast, but has so far declined to say whether she will run for president in 2012.
