Elk Grovians know they have talented kids. Every once in a while, folks outside Elk Grove get to see that, too. Over the next few days, Elk Grove youngsters will be showcasing their talents at regional venues, from exhibiting animals at the County Fair to playing Dixieland tunes at the Sacramento Jazz Festival. We've got the details for you below. And then there are those times when talent gets a kid in hot water, as was the case with a couple of Pleasant Grove High School ballplayers this week.
In the Patch:
Tee it Up for the Team Golf Tournament. This brings together golfers to benefit a local gymnastics outfit, the Byers Gymnastics Center. It runs from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. today at the Wildhawk Golf Club. Spectators can buy lunch for $25.

Pleasant Grove Players Benched After Pro Tryout. Two local high school baseball stars were barred from section playoffs after an audition with the Toronto Bluejays, The Sacramento Bee reports.

Junior Livestock Auction, Sacramento County Fair. Get your bids ready: the auction takes place at 10:00 a.m. Sunday at the Cal Expo and includes animals raised by local chapters of the Future Farmers of America.
