. The Cosumnes Legacy Foundation will officially start work today on a Veterans Memorial in Elk Grove Regional Park. Featuring a bronze star-shaped monument, the memorial will be built with $25,000 of city money, supplemented with private donations. The ceremony starts at 5:00 p.m.
School district restores morning bus service. For those who missed the original announcement—including us!—the has decided to reverse to scrap bus service to school for students in grades 7 through 12 in the 2011-2012 school year. Board members said they realized any savings from the service cut would be offset by a drop in attendance-based revenue if students couldn't make it to school.

Look out, Sarah Palin. Conservative U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) officially announced her campaign for president at a debate with other Republican hopefuls in New Hampshire Monday night. Bachmann also pledged to defund the Environmental Protection Agency, repeal healthcare reform and overturn state laws allowing gay marriage.
