What's the Best April Fool's Joke You Ever Played?

A few April Fool's Days ago, my then-boyfriend—who was going through a grilling phase—was firing up the barbie to cook some of his famous pulled pork. So I invited my dad and brother, big swine aficionados, to join us for dinner.

In typical Mello family fashion, they showed up at our Berkeley cottage breathless and half an hour late. I'm not much of a jokester, but I saw my chance and I took it.

I opened the door with my best startled and apologetic look. "Oh, we didn't know you were still coming, so we, um, ate it all already."

The horror on their faces was priceless. I let them sweat for a minute before I gave it away.
