SDCCU encouraged people to donate following a busy summer travel season. Blood donations drop "dangerously low" during the summer months, according to SDCCU.

"Hospitals experience an increased need for blood following a busy summer travel season and inventory continues to be low, potentially affecting thousands of patients," a news release said. "The community is encouraged to help. Every pint of blood can save up to three people — lives depend on it."
