City of Encinitas Extends Youth Commission Deadline to Monday

Three (3) students who will be in the 7th and 8th grades in Fall 2013 
Three (3) students who will be in the 9th and 10th grades in Fall 2013 
Four (4) students who will be in 11th and 12th grades in Fall 2013 
One (1) at large representative fourteen (14) to nineteen (19) years of age.

Voting members shall be appointed by the City Council and serve one (1) year terms. 

The deadline for applications to be sent to the City of Encinitas is May 31st. They may fax the application to 633-2627, e-mail at khollywood@encinitasca.gov or use the conventional U.S. postal service. THE DEADLINE HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO JUNE 10, 2013, AT 5:00 P.M.

Applicants will be asked to make a 2 to 3 minute presentation before the City Council on June 19th at 6:00 P.M. to describe their qualifications and what they would like to accomplish if they are appointed. After all applicants have been heard, the City Council, by ballot vote, will make appointments to the Commission.

Please note that commissioners will be required to attend the monthly Youth Commission meeting the first Wednesday of each month at 4:30 at City Hall.  All Commissioners have an attendance requirement, whereby members are automatically removed from the Commission if the member is absent from ¼ of the regular and/or special meetings conducted during the months of July 1st through June 30th of each year. 

The Youth  Commission was established in 1998 and continues to be a vital resource to our youth and has a large impact on deciding future programs.
