Coastal Roots Farm To Celebrate Trees During Food Forest Festival
The 10th annual Tu B'Shvat Food Forest Festival will feature Jewish learning and crafts, live music, yoga, food and drinks and more.
ENCINITAS, CA — Coastal Roots Farm, a nonprofit Jewish community farm and education center in Encinitas, is inviting community members of all backgrounds to celebrate the magic and meaning of trees during its 10th annual Tu B'Shvat Food Forest Festival.
The festival is slated from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, at the farm at 441 Saxony Road. The farm's Food Forest will feature Jewish learning and crafts, live music, yoga, local food and drinks, and opportunities for people all ages to dig into the soil and nurture the land.
Rooted in Jewish tradition, Tu B'Shvat is known as the New Year, or Birthday of the Trees, and honors the vital role trees play in our lives. Attendees will plant between 20 to 40 fruit trees throughout the event, a spokesperson for the event told Patch.
