Encinitas Announces ‘Stoked for the Holidays’ Parade Theme
If you want in on the surf-inspired fun, you can sign up for the parade now.

Most of us have Halloween on the brain, but as they say, the holidays will be in full swing before we know it. In fact, this year’s downtown parade is already in the works and city staff recently announced its theme: "Stoked for the Holidays." You can probably expect to see Santa cruising in a woodie instead of a sleigh, and his little helpers shaping longboards instead of rocking horses. And the surf theme is especially fitting considering that National Geographic recently named Encinitas as one of the best beach towns in the world.
The event is slated for Saturday, Dec. 1, at 5:30 p.m. About 20,000 people are expected to come watch the parade, which will travel south along South Coast Highway 101 beginning at the corner of D Street and finishing at J Street.
If you’d like to be in the parade, you can get an application online or print the document attached to this story. You can also call the Parks and Rec department at 760-633-2760 for more information.
