ENCINITAS, CA — The city of Encinitas and the San Diego County Sheriff's Department are joining forces in July to help residents get unwanted guns off the streets.

On Saturday, July 26, between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m., residents can come to the Encinitas City Hall, located at 505 South Vulcan Avenue, and turn in both handguns and assault rifles, no questions asked.

"This is a gun safety event, and we will be distributing free gun cable locks while supplies last," a spokesperson for the event said.
