Encinitas Hospital Among Top 1% Nationwide: Report

See which San Diego County hospitals Healthgrades says produce the best patient outcomes, according to clinical data.

ENCINITAS, CA — Two hospitals in San Diego County — including one in Encinitas — are ranked among the top 1% of clinical care facilities in the country, according to a new report out Tuesday.

The 2025 America's Best Hospitals Awards from Healthgrades, an online resource to help people find doctors and hospitals, is a three-tiered ranking of the top 50, 100 and 250 hospitals, which, respectively, represent the top 1%, 2% and 5% of clinical care hospitals nationwide.

In San Diego County, Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas and Scripps Mercy Hospital San Diego were named to America's 50 Best Hospitals list.

Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas has been included on the Best Of list for 10 consecutive years, while Scripps Mercy Hospital San Diego has been included on the Best Of list for eight consecutive years.

Healthgrades said it uses clinically validated methodology that focuses solely on patient outcomes to help consumers choose doctors who practice at hospitals recognized for their quality.

Healthgrades evaluated clinical performance for about 4,500 hospitals across more than 30 common procedures and conditions. The rankings are designed to increase patients’ confidence in choosing a doctor and hospital.
