Halloween Happenings in Encinitas

From pumpkins to petting zoos, here's some of the hullaballoo happening near you.

It may be hard to believe, but Halloween is upon us. Here’s a rundown of some of the holiday’s happenings here in Encinitas:

If you haven’t made your way to any of the nearby pumpkin patches yet, you still have time to swing by. The one off Manchester Avenue and El Camino Real features several giant inflatable slides—and another off Rancho Santa Fe Road and Encinitas Boulevard has a petting zoo with three piglets that were just born last week (check the photo gallery for peak at these cute little critters).

Of course, it wouldn’t be Halloween in Encinitas without those over-the-top pumpkin carvings by the monks of Self Realization Fellowship. These intricate works of art will be displayed throughout downtown—and have your camera handy because there’s sure to be some impressive stuff (check the photo gallery for some of last year’s pumpkins). The SRF will also present its Queens Court in the parking lot of the SRF book and gift store off Coast Highway 101. The Queen will on hand all night, granting wishes to all the kids who enter her court.

The courtyard over at the Lumberyard shopping center will be transformed into a kids’ fun zone, where members of the Artists 101 Colony will have games set up and local band Bucket Ruckus will perform. From 5 to 8 p.m. several downtown business owners will also be handing out candy to children in costumes. To see a list of participating businesses, check Downtown Encinitas Mainstreet Associations’ website.

La Paloma Theatre is offering a special Halloween screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Show times are at 9 p.m. and midnight, and tickets are $10.
