Firefighters Work Beach Cliff Rescue Operation Overnight In San Diego County

SAN DIEGO, CA — If you saw a helicopter and heard fire engines near Torrey Pines, the Gliderport and Black's Beach in San Diego County overnight Monday, here's why.
A San Diego rescue helicopter and firefighter personnel were called to the cliffs above Black's Beach late Monday to attend a cliff rescue, according to recent reports.
Shortly after 11 p.m., firefighters arrived at the 2800 block of Torrey Pines Scenic Drive, where a person was reported as being trapped on a cliff. Firefighters remained in the area until about 1 a.m. Wednesday morning, according to the department.

The rescue operation included a helicopter, two engines, a medic, and a battalion chief, totalling 23 personnel, according to the department.
The staging area was near the Gliderport parking area at Black's Beach Vista Point, south of the Torrey Pines Hilton, according to the map.
