Help Protect Encinitas Wildlife This Weekend

Volunteers are needed for a Saturday morning cleanup at Indian Head Canyon.

The canyons and lagoons of Encinitas are home to stunningly beautiful and downright rare wildlife and plants. This Saturday, locals will have a chance to help preserve these community gems while learning more about the species that inhabit them.

Solana Center, in partnership with the City of Encinitas, the Batiquitos Lagoon Foundation and San Diego Botanic Garden, will be hosting a cleanup at Indian Head Canyon on Sept. 29 from 9 a.m. to noon. This cleanup effort will help protect the open space for the plants, animals, and people that call it home.

If you pitch-in to help, you’ll be working alongside two wildlife experts. Dave Ehrlinger, San Diego Botanic Garden Director of Horticulture, and Fred C. Sandqusit, Batiquitos Lagoon Foundation President, will lead groups through the local habitat and teach them about the importance of protecting our waterways.
