14-Year-Old Driver Kills 1 In Stolen Car Crash: Police

Three teens were involved in the fiery overnight crash, which killed a passenger, believed to be 14, according to police and media reports.

LOS ANGELES — A teenager was killed in a fiery crash overnight involving a stolen car driven by a 14-year-old girl, according to police and media reports.

The incident occurred shortly after midnight Tuesday in Encino, police said. Officers saw the vehicle approaching Balboa Boulevard with its lights off and attempted to stop it, but the car sped away and police did not pursue it, according to law enforcement. The driver tried to turn left at Ventura Boulevard and the vehicle crashed into a building and caught fire, police said.

The driver and front passenger, who FOX 11 reported had just turned 18, were taken to the hospital, and the rear passenger, who was trapped in the car, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police. The deceased passenger is believed to be a 14-year-old girl, FOX 11 reported.

The vehicle had been reported stolen by the family of the driver Monday night, according to KTLA.
