A List of Those Lost to War
Details regarding those who have lost their lives in Iraq and Afghanistan, including some from the Valley, can now be found in an L.A. Times searchable database.

The names of the men and women who have lost their lives in Iraq and Afghanistan have been compiled into a searchable database by the Los Angeles Times, published Friday.
The sources used include the Times' own research, the Defense Department and iCasualties.org. The database can be searched by a number of criteria, including last name, hometown, high school and place of death.
The list includes some who called the Valley home:

William I. Salazar, 26, who died in Iraq on Oct. 15, 2004, was from Canoga Park.
Jinsu Lee, 34, who died in Afghanistan on Aug. 5, 2011, was from Chatsworth.

Giann C. Joya Mendoza, 27, who died in Iraq on June 28, 2007, was from North Hollywood.
Angel De Jesus Lucio Ramirez, 22, who died in Iraq on Nov. 11, 2006, was from Pacoima.
Jair De Jesus Garcia, 29, who died in Afghanistan Aug. 1, 2008, was from Porter Ranch.
Du Hai Tran, 30, who died in Iraq on June 20, 2008, was from Reseda.
Felix G. Gonzalez-Iraheta, 25, who died in Iraq on May 3, 2007, was from Sun Valley.
Julio Vargas, 23 who died in Afghanistan on July 20, 2010, was from Sylmar.
David Jimenez Almazan, 27, who died in Iraq on Aug. 27, 2006, was from Van Nuys.
