Chamber of Commerce Prepares for Taste of Encino

The street fair returns to Ventura Boulevard on Sunday.

After , the Taste of Encino street fair will be back on Ventura Boulevard this Sunday, thanks to the . The event is the 24th of its kind, admission is free, and a portion of the proceeds will benefit area schools and community betterment projects.

Karie Purcell, the chamber's director, told Patch that among the attractions will be food from local restaurants, booths from Encino businesses (including Patch!), live music, arts and crafts vendors, and a beer and wine pavillion.

A kids' zone will feature bounce houses, a climbing wall, a petting zoo and a pumpkin patch. Emergency services will provide an ambulance and a firetruck for inquisitive children to climb aboard. The LAPD will also have a simulated motorcycle ride for youngsters to try out.

"We're very excited about it," said Purcell, "I think we've going to have a great family event."

Purcell added that worked hard to ensure that the event could take place on Ventura Boulevard once again, rather than at According to Purcell, Koretz was able to help reduce permit costs and secure Ventura Boulevard as this year's venue.

"It's good to have great leaders who are willing to try and help everyone, and be involved," Purcell said.

, field deputy for Koretz, said the councilman met with Nazario Sauceda, the director of street services for Los Angeles.

"He [Koretz] helped streamline the permit process, making it easy but still with all the checks and balances covered," Ebenstein said.

Koretz plans to attend the event, and will speak to the crowd at about 2 p.m.

"[Kortez] said it's one of the events he most looks forward to," said Ebenstein. "He said he's going for good food, good music and good tchotchkes."
