Encino’s Latest Candy Store is a Childhood Dream For 3 Moms

Kandi Sweet Shoppe will have its grand opening Sunday.

The three moms speak six languages between them and were born in Paris, Venezuela and New York City. Besides the fact that their kids all go to the Emek Hebrew Academy in Sherman Oaks, there’s one thing they have in common: A love of candy.

On Sunday, April 14, Sandra Rbibo, Rita Solomon and Jenny Suman will launch Kandi Sweet Shoppe, Encino’s newest candy and cupcakes store. Located in the courtyard of the Encino Town Center, at 17200 Ventura Blvd., suite 116, the store is expected to attract kids and adults alike who have a sweet tooth from 11 a.m. onward.

“These days if you go to a candy store, it feels like you’re going to a huge shopping center,” says Rbibo. “We wanted to bring our childhood back while giving the place more of a neighborhood feel.”

Kandi isn’t a big store, and the fact that it isn’t located right on Ventura Boulevard is an advantage, says Suman, because the courtyard of the Encino Town Center is a much safer place to bring children and have them running around.

Sunday’s grand opening will feature an assortment of goodies—cake pops, cup cakes, brownies, cinnamon rolls among them—along with plenty of balloons and face-painting activities.
