'Gossip Girl' Star Leighton Meester Buys Home in Encino

Leighton Meester, star of the TV show Gossip Girl, has recently purchased a home in Encino, according to PerezHilton.com, among other news sites.

According to one blogger, Meester put down $1,457,500 for the 2,847 square feet, 4 bedrooms, 4.5 bathrooms house in Encino.

At least one commentator has hinted that it's not what they would expect from an actress who convincingly plays an Upper East Side socialite. But Meester certainly gets more bang for her buck here than in New York, where a co-op with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms costs the same as her Encino mansion.

Encino Patch's real estate columnist, , had this to say about Meester's new neighborhood.

"Leighton Meester will join the many celebrities who have chosen to make Encino their home," said Wolfe, " I'm not surprised she decided to buy in the Royal Oaks neighborhood as the area is really beautiful and is one of my favorite neighborhoods."
