The Board of Supervisors approved the initial General Plan Amendment amending the Housing Element of the Sacramento County General Plan back in July 2021, and Planning and Environmental Review (PER) submitted the adopted Housing Element to State of California Housing and Community Development Department (HCD) for certification in July 2021.

On October 28, 2021, PER staff received a letter from HCD requiring additional changes for certification.

Between December 2021 and February 2022, PER staff worked with HCD and the Sacramento Housing Alliance (SHA) to address all concerns and comments related to the Housing Element.

“The Revised Housing Element includes program clarifications that respond to the State of California Housing and Community Development Department and Sacramento Housing Alliance comments,” said Todd Smith, Principal Planner. “With the approval of the Board of Supervisors, the adopted Housing Element will be resubmitted to the HCD, and we are confident that it will be certified.”

Two versions of the approved Housing Element are available for review on the PER Housing Element Update webpage: a “clean” version and a version with changes tracked.
