San Mateo Slammers Crowned NorCal Champions

Congratulations to the San Mateo Slammers 12 U "Green" Girls Softball Team for winning four straight games at the Nor Cal Qualifier held at Twin Creeks Sports Complex in Sunnyvale, CA the weekend of June 21st, 22nd and 23rd.

After being defeated in the Jan MacPhearson Tournament in San Carlos by some of the same teams they would face in Nor Cal, the girls quickly realized they would have to practice hard, find the fire deep inside themselves and play tough to face the fierce competition found throughout Northern California.

They then took Second Place in the Davis/Dixon tournament, First Place at San Mateo's own George Feely Classic, First Place at the Piece of the Rock Tournament in Rochlin, CA. and then for the Piece de Resistance - First Place at Nor Cal.

Winning Nor Cal qualifies them to play in Western Nationals held in Peoria, AZ  starting July 31 - Aug. 4, 2013.

The team, coached by Ken Langlinais, Fred Eftekari and Rommel Santos is comprised of the following girls:  Haley Donegan, Addison Eftekari, Kealani Kaufusi, Mackenzie Langlinais, Maicie Levitt, Lafu Malepeai, Marina Sambel, Brianna Santos, Sophia Siotos, Lindsey Stevens, Jayla Stokesberry and Vanessa Zapata.

Many of these girls have been playing softball for San Mateo for several years.  The San Mateo Slammers 12U team wishes to thank our previous years sponsors for contributing to our teams success.

Dr. Laleh Vakili, Dr. Bruce Snyder, Sotheby's, Chicago Title, First National Bank of Northern California, Genentech, Bronzini Dental Group and more have always been very generous to help support our San Mateo Slammers. Always nice to play for a community that supports their community!

Again, the Slammers have been working hard to fundraise to help pay for additional tournaments in preparation for Western Nationals in Peoria, AZ - a lofty goal of $10,000.00.
