FVHS Grad Night Needs You!
Without more volunteers, activities at this year's event could be cut short, and next year's could be in jeopardy as well.

With just over a week until Fountain Valley High School's graduation festivities, the school's Grad Night event on June 13 is in dire need of volunteers.
"We have so many different game positions and good stations, that if we can't fill them with a volunteer, we will not be able to have that station open," said Louise Proli, FVHS's Grad Night volunteer coordinator. "At 11:30, a lot of them will close down, and you'll start to get long lines. Usually it's a pretty seamless thing, but the more we close down, the longer the lines will get, which does not make for a fun night. It's like going to Disnleyland. At our event, they leave with so much more."
Proli said that this year's call for volunteers hasn't been answered by as many parents as in years past, and she's not sure why. Because planning for next year's event is set to start almost immediately after this year's has concluded, parents of younger students are needed as well. Without more volunteers to fill those positions, planning for next year's event could stall.

As for this year's event, Proli said, about 60 more volunteers are still needed to run the various food, game and activity booths from 11 p.m. until 3 a.m. She said it's all the more important to be able to provide plenty of activities all the way up until the graduates are released to their parents at 5 a.m., otherwise the purpose of keeping kids safe could be defeated.
"if we have to shorten our grad nights down because we have to close down at 2 or 3, then we might as well not have a grad night," Proli said "They still have time to go out and find a party. If we can keep them there until 5 when their parents come to pick them up, we're saving lives."
