Safe Cycling on PD's Radar as Summer Approaches
Officers will be on the lookout for unsafe riders.

The Fountain Valley Police Department is calling on bicycle riders and motorists alike to be cautious during the month of June and throughout the summer months, and will be conducting education with bicyclists and motorists alike throughout the summer months and enforcing dangerous violations.
The total number of bicycle deaths in California has remained flat for the last two reporting years, while injuries have increased 4.6 percent. Deaths and injuries for bicycle riders under age 15 have continued to fall, but bicycles are associated with more childhood injuries than any other consumer product except automobiles.
Child bicycling deaths can increase 45 percent above the month average in the summer, and more adults are choosing bicycles, both for commuting to work and for exercise.
