Forward Progress Stopped On Brush Fire Reported In Alameda County

BREAKING: The fire was first reported at 1:27 p.m. on Monday.

FREMONT, CA — A vegetation fire has been reported on Monday east of Fremont.

At 3:07 p.m., Cal Fire Santa Clara reported that forward progress had been stopped on the Mission Fire, which has grown to 70 acres and is 25% contained.

"Air and ground resources are working diligently to contain this fast growing fire. Additional resources are enroute from CAL FIRE and Alameda County Fire," Cal Fire officials said.

Cal Fire reported the Mission Fire at 1:51 p.m. on Mission Road and Andrade Road in Sunol. A UC San Diego wild fire camera, part of AlertCalifornia, recorded the fire Monday, which is East of Fremont.

Units from Cal Fire Santa Clara are on the scene and are working to contain the fast moving fire, Cal Fire officials said. Two air tankers have be released in an air attack attempting to extinguish the flames, Cal Fire said.

At 2:25 p.m. the fire reportedly spread to 50 acres with 0% containment and a revised potential spread of 75 acres. One responding helicopter was canceled, according to Cal Fire.

The fire was reported at 2:11 p.m. as 20 acres with a potential to spread to 200 acres. No immediate structures were threatened. Two air tankers and one helicopter were requested, according to Cal Fire.

The fire was reported at 1:53 p.m. as 10 acres with a moderate rate of spread, according to a Cal Fire unit on the scene.

The cause of the fire is not known. No other information is available.
