Alleged Drug Dealer Arrested With 500 Pounds Of Copper Wire: Police

Fremont police allege the man had methamphetamine and a large amount of stolen copper wire in his vehicle when he was pulled over.

FREMONT, CA — A Livermore man accused of selling drugs was arrested this week with more than 500 pounds of copper wire in his car, according to Fremont police.

In a news release, police said a vehicle driven by the suspect and carrying three passengers was stopped around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday on Farwell Drive. Officers searched the vehicle and discovered four ounces of suspected methamphetamine, electric saws, bolt cutters, and the copper wire, police said.

The driver and passengers denied owning the suspected drugs or the copper wire, and police have yet to locate the owner.

Police identified the vehicle's driver as Juan Jose Cazares Alvarado, 33, of Livermore. He was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance for sale, receiving stolen property, possession of burglary tools, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving without a license. The three passengers were arrested for outstanding warrants and alleged drug offenses, police said.
