Assault Rifle, Handgun, Drugs Seized; Convicted Felon Arrested: Police
The suspect has previous convictions for carjacking, kidnapping, robbery and drug sales, according to Fremont Police.

FREMONT, CA — A felon who has previous convictions for carjacking, kidnapping, robbery and drug sales was arrested again for possessing an assault rifle, a handgun and illegal narcotics, according to Fremont Police.
On April 13, officers were called to a residence in the 38000 block of Canyon Heights Drive. First responders to a medical emergency had noticed a gun magazine loaded with bullets.
When they arrived, Fremont Police officers saw a handgun in plain sight lying on the ground near other first responders.
Because of his previous convictions the resident, Sandeep Garcha, 47, is prohibited from owning firearms.
Police got a search warrant for the residence and associated vehicles.
A search of the residence turned up a handgun, a loaded firearm magazine, suspected methamphetamine, and a white powdery substance.
"A search of the vehicle parked at the residence resulted in an unserialized AR-15 style short-barrel rifle and a thirty-round magazine," police said in a statement on Wednesday. "Based on the way the rifle was configured, it qualified as both an assault rifle and a short-barrel rifle."
