Authorities ID Cyclist Killed In Fremont Crash
The cyclist died after colliding with a semi-truck on Friday in the 44000 block of Osgood Road, police said.
FREMONT, CA — Authorities say they've identified a cyclist who was killed in a crash involving a semi-truck in Fremont on Friday afternoon.
The Alameda County Sheriff's Office Coroner's Bureau identified the man as 69-year-old Fremont resident Danny Chiu.
Chiu was riding his bicycle southbound on the west side of Osgood Road sometime after noon when he collided with a semi-truck that was turning into the parking lot of a business, according to the Fremont Police Department.

"The point of impact was the front driver's side of the semi-truck and the oncoming bicyclist," police said. "The cause of the collision is still under investigation; however, drug or alcohol impairment is not suspected to be a contributing factor."
Chiu died at the scene, police said. The driver of the semi-truck remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, police said.
