Bosco’s Bones & Brews Opens Under New Management

Bosco's has been remodeled, "however, we did maintain the good ol' Bosco's environment that we all know and LOVE!"

SUNOL, CA — If you need an excuse to visit Sunol, the historic Bosco’s Bones & Brews has reopened after an ownership change and remodeling.

A quick history lesson — Bosco was a Labrador-Rottweiler mix who was mayor of Sunol from 1981 until his death in 1994. In fact, he was the first non-human elected mayor of a town in the U.S.

Bosco's opened last month with new management, new menus, new staff, and a remodel, but the new owners kept "the good ol' Bosco's environment that we all know and LOVE!" they said in a social media post.

The building dates back to the 1800s and has gone through many purposes, from a gas station to a bar purported to be frequented by Willie Nelson.

Bosco's currently has breakfast and lunch menus on its website, including favorities such as omelettes and burgers. Owner Michael Miller told the Bay Area News Group that new recipes are in the works, but for now, "We currently have tri tip for dinner and will be adding the much-requested prime rib in 2022." Wings to eat at the bar or for take-out were offered during a recent 49ers game.

As you'd expect from an establishment named after a dog, Bosco's is pet-friendly.
