Man Attacked, Robbed on California Street
A man was attacked and robbed of his cell phone on the 39000 block of California Street at 2:54 p.m. Aug 22, police said. The victim, an employee at a nearby business, was waking in a parking lot when a man approached him and asked for directions to the library. The victim pulled out his cell phone to search for the library when the suspect started to hit him repeatedly with a closed fist. The victim collapsed and lost consciousness. When he came to, he realized his phone was missing. He was taken to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries. The suspect was described as a black male, 25 years old, six-feet tall with a medium build, short hair and wearing a blue shirt.

Woman Robbed at Northgate Savoy Apartments
A 19-year-old woman from San Jose was robbed at 2:20 a.m. at the Northgate Savoy Apartments, located on the 34000 block of Paseo Padre Way, on Aug. 22. Police said a black male adult threatened to shoot the woman if she didn’t give him her belongings. The suspect forcefully grabbed her arm and took her backpack, which had a laptop inside. The suspect then fled on foot. An older white van was seen in the area but police have not confirmed if it was associated with the robbery.

Man Beaten With Baseball Bat at Fremont Hub Bus Stop
A 20-year-old man was arrested after assaulting another man with a baseball bat at a bus stop at the Fremont Hub on Aug. 20. Police said the victim was waiting near the CVS store when he a man driving in a vehicle approached him. An altercation followed, escalating to the point that the man in the vehicle assaulted the victim with a baseball bat. The suspect, described as a Hispanic male adult with a bald head and red shirt and driving a silver 80s Honda, was later located on Bell Street. He was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.
Man Hit with Beer Bottle over Stolen Alcohol
A 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault after a heated fight over stolen alcohol. Officers were sent to a home on Citrus Drive at about 11:15 p.m. on Aug. 25. Police said there were two parties involved, with one side calling more friends to the residents. Two individuals began to fight. One victim was hit in the head with a beer bottle. Another person came out of the house with a handgun in his waistband and tried to stop the fight. He was detained by officers in the driveway without incident. In the end, only one suspect was arrested.
A man was arrested in Fremont's Niles district after stabbing a man in the neck with a clothes iron on Aug. 26. Police responded to a call of an altercation between two men in the first block of G Street at about 4:30 a.m. The two men, a 31-year-old and 37-year-old, both of Fremont, escalated from arguing to punches. The 37-year-old man then grabbed an iron and stabbed the 31-year-old in the neck with the pointed end of the appliance. The victim left the scene in a pickup truck and was flagged down by police nearby and taken to a hospital. The suspect was found at the home and surrendered without incident. He was booked at the Fremont Jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.
BURGLARIES AND THEFTS
BART police reported that a beige 1997 Honda Accord was stolen from the east lot of the Fremont station between 7:40 a.m. and 4:40 p.m. on Aug. 20.
An office building on the 39600 block of Mission Boulevard was burglarized between 8 p.m. Aug. 21 and 5 a.m. Aug. 22. It was not determined how the suspect(s) entered the building. However, they broke into the office through a floor-to-ceiling window. Paperwork was stolen.
BART police reported that a green four-door 1996 Honda Accord was stolen while parked in stall #687 between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Aug. 22.
A home on the 42000 block of Greenbrier Park Drive was burglarized on Aug. 24. The victims left at 10 a.m. and returned 12:25 p.m. The burglars entered via a window that was left open. A laptop, 50-puond safe and iPod were stolen.
Also on Aug. 24, the Public Storage at 42101 Albrae St. was burglarized. Someone entered two storage units between 6 p.m. Thursday and 11 a.m. Friday.
Two men attempted to burglarize a home on Becerra Drive at 10 p.m. on Aug. 25. The resident said he heard the lock on the door jingle. When he checked on it, he saw to Hispanic men, about 5’8” to 5’10” tall and wearing white shirts, walking away from the home. When the men saw the resident, they quickly fled eastbound out of the neighborhood.
The Bonfaire Market, located on Thornton and Moraine, was robbed of liquor at about 3:36 a.m. Aug. 26. The business was closed and citizens reported hearing the alarm go off. Officers responded to the scene and found the front window smashed. Despite a quick response, officers were not able to locate the suspect.
A 22-year-old Oakland man was arrested Aug. 26 after police were called to the Target at the Fremont Hob on a report of a liquor theft. Target security said a suspect has been stealing liquor from the store for the past month. Officers detained three individuals and took the 22-year-old into custody after he lied about his name.
DRUGS AND ALCOHOL
A 19-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia after she was found at Motel 6 with meth and a meth pipe on Aug. 20.
A 50-year-old woman was arrested at the Niles Carwash for smoking meth.
A 47-year-old Union City woman was arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence on Aug. 24. Citizens reported at 5 a.m. that the woman nearly missed several collisions, including a group of bicyclists on State Street. An officer located her and arrested her.
Two men, a 40-year-old from Hayward and 42-year-old from Fremont were arrested at a Washburn Drive residence on suspicion of a controlled substance and drug-related warrants.
A man was arrested on Aug. 25 at the Century Theaters at Pacific Commons on suspicion of being drunk in public. He refused to leave the theater and was yelling at people.
A taxi driver was arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence on Aug. 25. Officers responded to the area of Paseo Padre and Whitehead at about 8:41 p.m. where they found the taxi cab rammed into a tree.
A drunk driver was arrested Aug. 25 after crashing into a streetlight across from the KFC Centerville.
A Volvo speeding westbound on Ridgewood continued off-road heading west even after the road turned north. The car blasted through the sound wall and landed along the railroad tracks. Occupants fled the vehicle, but investigators believe an individual treated at a local trauma center for serious injuries may be related to the case.
A 45-year-old woman, a 31-year-old man and a 41-year-old man were all arrested during a traffic stop on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance on Aug. 26.
TRAFFIC
A 29-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of reckless driving near the intersection of Fremont Boulevard and Beacon Avenue on Aug. 20.
A man was arrested Aug. 24 on suspicion felony hit-and-run after colliding with a motorcycle and driving away.
MISCELLANEOUS
A 22-year-old man was arrested at Motel 6 after lying about his name to a police officer due to outstanding warrants. At the end of the investigation, he was taken to jail on suspicion of multiple charges, including having a fake ID and several pieces of stolen mail.
A dog in Fremont had to be euthanized after police found it neglected and abused on Aug. 25. The dog could be heard crying by neighbors and was found by officers in the backyard of a home, trapped underneath a ladder and panel of wood. The dog was transported a pet hospital where it was euthanized.
A 22-year-old male was placed on psychiatric hold after jumping out of a moving vehicle on Aug. 26. The man, who was taking medication for depression, survived with minor injuries.
A transient reported that is friend, also a transient, had stolen his pitbull puppy and fled on a bike. Officers responded to the scene but couldn't locate the suspect or the puppy. The victim was left holding an empty pink leash, police said.
