The following is a summary of significant crime and incidents reported in Fremont between Nov. 28 and Dec. 5 as released by the Fremont Police Department.
WEDNESDAY, NOV. 28
Six Arrested At Gang Member’s Funeral

Six people were arrested around 12:30 p.m. after a gun was spotted at a slain gang member's funeral in Fremont, police said. Several officers responded to Chapel of the Angels on Fremont Boulevard and Chapel Way shortly after 12:30 p.m. when a person reported seeing a large group of people in "gang attire" and a handgun that was in the chapel's parking lot, according to a Fremont police statement. The individuals were arrested on suspicion of various charges related to weapons violations and drug violations. For the full report, click here.
Woman Robbed of Purse at Gunpoint

A woman was robbed of her purse at gunpoint at the Oak Pointe Apartments, police said. Authorities said the suspects were described as three males who were last seen wearing hoodies and that the weapon used to threaten the victim was a “long gun, possibly with two barrels.”
Explosion Caused by Firecracker Attached to Toy Car
Police responded to the Camden Quick Stop after an explosion was reported in the area. Authorities said they found an M80 “or bigger” taped to a remote control car. The evidence was seized and a bomb squad was notified but did were not required to respond.

THURSDAY, NOV. 29
Drunk Driver Crashes into Traffic Light
A 35-year-old man was arrested after police were called to a solo-vehicle collision that occurred on Mowry Avenue and Farwell Drive. Authorities said the driver crashed into a traffic light. He was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
Burglaries and Thefts
- A four-door, gold Honda Accord was reported stolen from the northeast parking lot of the Fremont Bart Station between 7 a.m. and 2 p.m.
- A silver, 1991 Toyota Camry was reported stolen from the northeast parking lot of the Fremont Bart Station between 6:20 a.m. and 6 p.m.
- A Next PowerX mountain bike, worth $100, as reported stolen from the Fremont BART Station between 9:25 a.m. and 6:15 p.m.
FRIDAY, NOV. 30
East West Bank Robbed By Two Suspects
Police are searching for two suspects who held up a Fremont bank last week. Police said the two suspects – one armed with a handgun – robbed the East West Bank on Fremont Boulevard and fled the area with an undisclosed amount of cash. Click here for the full report.
Pair Steals Dog from Homeless Man
Police responded to a report of a fight among three homeless people at the Centerville Train Depot. Authorities said it’s believed a homeless man was confronted by a pair of other homeless individuals and the victim’s dog was taken. The suspects fled on food.
Car Burglar Assaults Reporting Party
A person who called the police after witnessing an auto burglary in progress was assaulted by one of the four suspects, police said. Officers were called to the El Camino real bar in Niles after the reporting party heard glass breaking. The person confronted the four suspects but was assaulted. The suspects fled.
Drunk Driver Crashes into Traffic Light Junction
A 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of DUI after a tow truck driver saw him crash into a “traffic light junction box” at Fremont Boulevard near Enea Court, police said. The crash resulted in an outage of traffic lights in the area. The man was detained at Paseo Padre Parkway and Deep Creek Road and an officer managed traffic until the traffic lights were fixed.
SATURDAY, DEC. 1
Police Detain Woman Armed with Hammer
A woman was detained after her relatives called police because the woman had reportedly damaged the interior of a home on Lima Terrace. Police said the woman had been armed with a hammer before relatives seized it and that the family reported that the woman has had “violent emotional outbreaks” in the past and that they feared she was “mentally unstable.” The family evacuated the home at the request of police officers and the woman was detained after a short resistance.
SUNDAY, DEC. 2
Women Fight Over Love Triangle; Man Arrested
A man was arrested on suspicion of resisting arrest after police were called to Wall Common when a fight sparked between two different women that the man was dating. Police said they were called to the area after the women began physically fighting because they were dating the same man and “one became jealous.” Authorities said the pair of women began pushing each other but that one woman suffered an asthma attack while she attempted to flee.
Suicidal Man Prompts Police Perimeter
Police were called to an area near Shinn Park after a family called to report that one of their relatives was making suicidal threats. Police arrived, but the man involved fled, so police established a perimeter. An officer was able to persuade the man to surrender peacefully and he was transported to a hospital for a mental evaluation, police said.
MONDAY, DEC. 3
Man Breaks into Vacant Building
Police arrested a 22-year-old man after he was found inside of a vacant building near Sprouts grocery store. Authorities said the man had kicked a window in to enter the vacant building and he was arrested on suspicion of trespassing.

- Public Storage on Albrae
- 41700 block of Chiltern Drive
- 35600 block of Dante Place
- 3200 block of Puttneham Way
- 35500 block of Ebro Street
- 3100 block of Rowe Place
- 800 block of Wooded Hills Court
TUESDAY, DEC. 4
Three Commercial Burglaries Reported Within Three Blocks
A total of three commercial burglaries were reported between the 1900 block and 3300 block of Mowry Avenue. Police said the burglaries may have occurred between the hours of 5:30 p.m. Monday and 7:30 a.m. Tuesday and that the suspect(s) entered by kicking in a front door or breaking windows. Items were taken from only one business.
Woman Assaulted with Baton
A woman was struck with a baton in the area of Paseo Padre Parkway and Sailway Drive. No suspect description was available but police said the investigation is ongoing.
WEDNESDAY, DEC. 5
Drunk Man Tries to Attack Officer
A man was arrested after trying to hit an officer with a vehicle, police said. Authorities responded to the area of Coaches around 8 p.m. after employees reported that a drunk man was outside the bar and had tried to fight with security personnel. Police found the man at a 7 Eleven store on Chapel Street but police said the man attempted to “strike” an officer as the officer was trying to detain him. The man was arrested on suspicion of resisting arrest.
Burglaries and Thefts
- A home burglary on the 41200 block of Chiltern Drive was reported.
- A commercial burglary was reported on the 3900 block of Mowry Avenue around 10:20 a.m.
- A 38-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of theft out of Dale Hardware.
- A 62-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting from the Safeway at Fremont Hub.
- A home burglary was reported on the 45400 block of Coyote Road.
