From Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge

Up to two hundred participants are expected this weekend at the Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge in Fremont, CA for a 24-hour “BioBlitz,”—a family-friendly event packed with photo opportunities, including reptile and bird surveys, songbird banding demonstrations, mammal releases, and an aquatic invertebrate lab. The all-ages event, held in celebration of National Wildlife Refuge Week, will give participants a chance to work with refuge biologists, record their findings with iNaturalist.org, and be certified as Contributing Field Scientists.

Where: Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge, Fremont, CA

Directions: From Highway 84 (at the east end of Dumbarton Bridge), exit at Thornton Avenue. Travel south on Thornton Avenue 0.8 miles to the Refuge entrance on the right.
