Fake Vendors Scam $180K From Bay Area Business: Police
An email was sent to the business posing as a vendor.
FREMONT, CA — A manufacturing business in Fremont was scammed for over six figures two weeks ago, police said.
On May 28, Fremont Police Department officers investigated a fraud report at a business on the 47900 block of Fremont Boulevard.
Police said the business received an email posing as one of their vendors, asking to change the bank account information on file.

The business then paid the vendor using the new account information and the funds were routed to the suspects account, police said.
The total loss was around $180,000.
